Bike Culture

In nine days, the Bicycle Film Festival will take place in New York and give cycling enthusiasts quite the bit of bang for their buck at the festivities. It's a pretty unique showing, with films centered around bikes and bikers, along with music, dancing, and plenty of drinking at Studio B in Brooklyn. And, we all know there's nothing quite like the thrill one gets from guzzling barrells of alcohol, then going for a quiet, safe, and sure-to-be uneventful ride around our city streets.

But, with all kidding aside, the BFF is an awesome event that is almost impossible not to enjoy. This year's edition will boast lots of films (shorts and features) and cool shows, including a party featuring Soft Circle and Simone Peace of Blonde Redhead on May 28th.

This is the biggest star in the emerging galaxy known as 'Bike Culture'. There's some other great venues to experience this unique movement in, including the Bike Short Films showings that occur at Galapagos Art Space in Williamsburg every year. Riders strap cameras to their helmets and make short films that are creative displays of the various aspects of bike riding around NYC (and beyond, too). Bike Shorts already occurred this year, but it's something to keep in your head in the months before the next one.

Check the BFF's site for more details and other goodies.
