Finally, A 'Palooza Without Perry Farrell

Posted on April 09, 2008

Ever hope that there could be a contest where you can mail a script to, win $10,000, and possibly have it optioned or even bought?

Well there is something like that and it is called Scriptapalooza. Scriptapalooza gives struggling writers the chance to get their screenplays out there and possibly be made into films. Lots of production companies and agents read up on the year's contestants, plus you get a nice big increase to your wallet if you win. It has a great reputation amongst the inner circles and provides us dreamers with a taste of success. Plenty have said this is one of the best script writing competitions out there so it might be a good idea to check it out. (Last year produced four success stories; two scripts were optioned and two were made into Lifetime movies...yeah, I know, but a paycheck is a paycheck, right?) This could finally be your chance to have your story about the robots from space who melt human brains read by someone other than your family and friends for the thousandth time.

You can email your script by April 15 through their site. They also accept submissions by regular mail, but since the deadline is kind of around the corner, I'd advise against it. Judging from the pain in the ass it was to mail out thank you cards this past week through the post office, I would say you are better off just emailing it. Or don't and say you did.
